VIOLA MASTER CLASS WITH RAFFAELE MALLOZZI

The course will focus on the whole repertoire for Viola, including the study of orchestral passages and solos and analysis of the Viola technique.

The timetable of the course will be defined by the professor according to the composition of the class.

The course provides a piano accompanist (only on request at the time of registration).

The organization reserves the right to make some scholarships available to the most deserving students upon request to the secretariat, to be assigned at the end of the course and at the discretion of the teachers.

Raffaele Mallozzi

Born in Naples, he graduated with first class honors cum laude in the San Pietro a Majella conservatory of his city, his teacher being M° Giovanni Leone.
He has won several times the Vittorio Veneto Concourse, in particular for the Young Violists Competition; in 1980-81 as a string quartet member, in 1978 as soloist.
Raffaele has won various principal-violist concourses: in 1982 in Naples and Florence, in 1984 in Bologna and in 1987 in Rome Opera Theatre and in Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. In 1991, he has been invited by the latter, for “recognized prestige”, to hold office of principal solo violist.
He has cooperated with numerous chamber ensembles, as principal violist as well as a soloist, examples are the Nuovi Virtuosi di Roma, the Solisti Italiani, the Santa Cecilia Chamber Orchestra. He has played for the principal Italian and international music institutions.
Recently, Raffaele has joined the Bach Ensemble, headquarters in Monte Antico (Tuscany), as solo-violist, extending his solo repertoire thus including rarely performed music.
He is a founding member of the Stradivari Sextet.
